Deaconess Abundant Life Regional Operations Specialist and Project Manager, Jenny Baldassarre notes, “Casana has the opportunity to turn an ordinary moment into a pivotal opportunity for proactive health management. We are thrilled to be connected to this research study.”

Advancing Healthcare Innovation with Casana
Imagine a toilet seat that monitors your health behind the scenes. That’s the power of a smart toilet seat.
For many seniors, the ability to live independently is a top priority. However, living independently and proactively monitoring one’s health effectively remains challenging. Can smart toilet seats help begin to bridge the gap?
When you integrate advanced sensors into a familiar household fixture, you begin to transform health monitoring into an afterthought. Continuous, and naturally consistent, monitoring allows seniors and their caregivers to keep a close eye on their health without disruptive methods, promoting early detection of potential health issues and facilitating timely interventions.
At Casana, we’re dedicated to creating healthcare solutions that seamlessly fit into daily life. Our first product, the Heart Seat®, is designed to make monitoring vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation simple and effortless. With this innovative technology, we aim to empower individuals with tools to stay informed about their health from the comfort of home. The Heart Seat is FDA cleared for Heart Rate and Blood Oxygenation. Blood pressure is under development.
About Our Current Study
We are in the final stages of preparing our product for submission to the FDA. Our current research study is bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, all around Greater Boston, to collect critical data for improving the Heart Seat’s ability to measure blood pressure.
In this study we are comparing blood pressure readings from the Heart Seat with blood pressures taken with a traditional cuff in both arms. This data is critical to our efforts to bring this product to market. Once we are cleared by the FDA, our first goal is to bring the seat to the homes of seniors like you, so that you can monitor your blood pressure on a daily basis without the nuisance of using a blood pressure cuff.
We recently conducted part of our study right here at Newbury Court, and we’re thrilled with the incredible response. Over the course of three days, we successfully completed over 30 subject visits, collecting critical data to help refine the Heart Seat’s cuffless blood pressure monitoring capabilities. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the residents and staff who participated or helped make this possible. Your support has been invaluable in driving forward this exciting research, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
How to Help Us Going Forward
We’re continuing our study at our office in Waltham and are looking for more participants. If you know someone who might be interested, you can refer them to us and earn $5 for each person who schedules and completes a visit, up to a total of $50! You may refer people to the study by emailing research@casanacare.com with their name and email address. Visits take about 30 minutes and participants will receive $50 for completing a visit.
Thank you for supporting Casana’s research—your participation and referrals will make a meaningful impact on the future of healthcare.
