Concord and Newbury Court resident, Joan P., helps light a ten-foot replica of the 1775 “One if by Land, Two if by Sea” lantern used ahead of the Battle of Lexington and Concord. In this short video, she shares her reflections on this symbol of democracy.

“On behalf of the residents of Newbury Court and the citizens of Concord, we light this lantern. May its light shine upon our Democracy for the next 250 years.” – Joan P., resident.

Joan was joined by a local youth, sparking the way between generations as they lit the lantern together. The lantern was created in a partnership with local designer, Bill Crosby, the Concord Museum, and Newbury Court. A truly special way to celebrate Concord’s rich history and community spirit!
