At Newbury Court, creativity is everywhere. Thanks to our Artist-in-Residence, Alexia Rosoff, and her collaborations with the New England Sculptors Association (NESA), NOA Gallery, and a variety of regional galleries, residents enjoy a rich rotation of professional art throughout the year. These exhibitions bring the region’s most talented artists right to our doorstep, offering inspiration, beauty, and conversation around every corner.

Sculptures in Motion

Newbury Court’s partnership with NESA features two exhibitions annually, both indoors and outdoors. The sculptural installations transform our shared spaces into living galleries, changing with the seasons, the light, and the creative vision of each artist.

Participating sculptors engage with residents directly, presenting about their work and process during their loan period.

Paintings That Tell a Story

In addition to sculpture, Newbury Court hosts rotating painting exhibitions, including from the NOA Fine Art Gallery, each one offering a fresh perspective and a glimpse into the artists’ creative worlds.

Recent and upcoming shows include:

Where Two Rivers Meet: A Husband-and-Wife Exhibition
Paintings by Michael Robbins and Iku Oseki
Iku, an art teacher at Fayerweather Street School in Cambridge, was named Artist of the Year (2019) by the Cambridge Art Association and Artist of the Month (April 2022) by the Somerville Arts Council. Her husband, David Robbins, is an artist, poet, psychotherapist, and Qi Gong teacher. His paintings combine color, texture, and rhythm to create dynamic, energizing surfaces.

Watercolors by Jeanne Lindsay
A celebration of delicate brushwork and atmosphere, Jeanne’s watercolors bring serenity and movement.

Beantown: Boston Vistas
By Arnie Casavant, Sol Hartman, and Jed Sutter

This collaborative show captures Boston’s skyline and hidden corners through the unique lenses of three local painters.

Sacred Spaces: Photographs by Ron Rosenstock and Michael Goodman
These internationally recognized photographers invite viewers to consider the quiet power of place. Their artist talk drew a large audience of residents eager to learn about the meditative practice behind each photograph.

Landscapes by Linda Puiatti
After a successful career as a graphic designer on Madison Avenue, Linda returned to fine art and studied at the Akademie voor Schoone Kunst in Deinze, Belgium. Since 2000, she has painted full-time, creating luminous landscapes inspired by her travels across the world.

A Community Enriched by Art

Each exhibition invites curiosity and reflection, sparks conversation at dinner tables, and offers residents a chance to meet the artists shaping today’s creative landscape.

Over time, the exhibitions have become an integral part of community life at Newbury Court. They nurture a shared sense of discovery and remind us that creativity thrives at every age. Whether it’s the bold texture of a sculpture in the courtyard or the quiet detail of a watercolor along the corridor, art here is not just decoration, it’s part of the rhythm of daily life.
